The Edaphosaurus is a prehistoric synapsid reptile that existed during the Permian period. They have a maximum size of about 3.5 meters long.

They ate small invertibrates such as mollusks due to their sharp teeth. They also have herbivore characteristics.

Name Edit

The word "Edaphosaurus" means "ground lizard." This word came from the Greek edaphos/εδαφος meaning "ground, land," and σαυρος/sauros meaning "lizard."
