Dolichorhynchops

The Dolichorhynchops is a prehistoric extinct kind of marine reptile that existed in the Cretaceous period of the prehistoric era. The maximum size of one is about 3 meters long. They used to live in North America, apparently in an aquatic habitat. It was discovered by George F. Sternberg in around 1900, when he was still a teenager.

Name[]

The Greek generic name for the Dolichorhynchops means "long-nosed eye." It has a long snout, which its eyes are placed far forward on. This is probably the source of the name.
