The Camptosaurus is a kind of Jurassic omnivorous dinosaur that can grow up to have a maximum size of 7.9 meters long. It is very much like the Iguanodon, but has its own family and is in it, rather than the Iguanodon's family. The name "Camptosaurus" means "flexible lizard," the word coming from the Greek words καμπτος/kamptos meaning "bent" and σαυρος/sauros meaning "lizard."
The Camptosaurus is a relatively heavily-built form, with robust hindlimbs and broad feet, still having four toes. The wrists are strongly ossified allowing the animal to rest on its arms while feeding from low vegetation. The fingers can be spread, not being bound together in a pad, and the thumb carries a small spike.
